“I worked with Danielle Lange on the novel Cedar Tavern, which is a complicated proposition of historical specificities mixed with fictional liberties. I have a personal sense of prose, as does every author, and I knew from the beginning of the editorial process it would be problematic and more than likely contrary to any number of style formats.
